Jara

Jara salad is an early-heading loose-leaf lettuce variety of the Romaine type, developed by the Dutch seed company Enza Zaden. This variety is characterized by its high yield and excellent taste. The plant forms a loose oval head, 20-25 cm in size, with crisp, deep green leaves and a yellow core. Thanks to its well-formed rosette and dense structure, Jara lettuce is ideal for both fresh consumption and processing.

Jara lettuce is highly resilient and adaptable to changing weather conditions. It is resistant to bolting, downy mildew, and tip burn, significantly simplifying care and reducing the need for pest control, especially against aphids. The plant is adaptable to various cultivation methods, prefers watering and ample sunlight, and tolerates moderate temperature reductions. The vegetative period is approximately 65 days, allowing for cultivation from early spring to late autumn, including multiple cycles per season.

Jara lettuce seeds germinate easily in field conditions, quickly forming a strong root system that supports steady growth and abundant yields. The lettuce retains freshness and nutritional value after harvest, and can be stored in a refrigerator's vegetable compartment for up to 28 days or more. Additionally, this variety is suitable for organic farming, making it a versatile choice for various cultivation methods.
