Wild cabbage Golt

Technical Potential of 'Golt' White Cabbage

The breeding philosophy of the Czech company Moravoseed focuses on creating hybrids with high stress resistance and predictable storability. 'Golt' is a late-maturing white cabbage hybrid, engineered for producers who prioritize long-term storage and consistent market quality.

Head Architecture and Vegetative Cycle

With a maturity period of 140–150 days, this hybrid falls into the late-season category. During this time, the plant develops a dense, round-shaped head weighing between 2.0 and 3.0 kg. This mass is highly desirable for logistics and retail, as it minimizes waste during pre-sale preparation and optimizes storage volume. The tight structure of internal leaves provides superior resilience against physical damage during mechanical harvesting.

Storage Efficiency and Density Guidelines

The primary technical asset of the 'Golt' hybrid is its ability to maintain quality for 8–10 months. This is achieved through the specific density of the outer wrapper leaves, which act as a robust natural barrier against moisture loss and pathogen proliferation in storage facilities. To achieve the intended yield parameters, the recommended planting density is 30,000–35,000 plants per hectare. This spacing ensures sufficient nutrient availability for root system development and uniform head filling, while preventing the canopy overcrowding that often triggers fungal infections.

Why 'Golt' is a strategic choice:

• Extended shelf life: maintains marketability until mid-summer of the following year.
• Consistent geometry: the uniform round shape is ideal for automated processing and packaging.
• Operational predictability: standardized response to agricultural inputs allows for precise production planning.
