Quintus

Quintus lettuce is an early-head lettuce type Romaine developed by the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan. It is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under cover, with a vegetation period of 55 to 65 days. Plants reach a height of up to 30 cm and form cylindrical, vibrant green heads with flat veins. The leaves are crisp and have a pleasant taste, making this variety popular for fresh consumption and culinary use. Planting density varies from 8 to 16 plants per square meter, allowing adjustment of head shape and density depending on harvest purpose.

Quintus is distinguished by high resistance to adverse conditions: it tolerates heat and light frosts down to -5 degrees, and is resistant to diseases such as downy mildew, lettuce aphid, internal necrosis, and lettuce mosaic virus. The variety has high adaptability and a prolonged harvest period, ensuring stable production throughout the season. Yield reaches 28 tons per hectare, and head quality remains consistent during long-term storage and transportation without losses.

For successful cultivation of Quintus lettuce, regular and regulated watering is required, avoiding both soil drying and waterlogging. Seeds should be sown at a depth of 1–1.5 cm at a germination temperature of +16–+17 degrees. Main care includes timely soil loosening, weed removal, and thinning dense seedlings. Due to its hardiness and excellent taste, Quintus lettuce is an excellent choice for farmers and gardeners targeting fresh vegetable markets and processing.
