Lettuce Galatea

Galatea salad — a new Romain-type variety developed by Rijk Zwaan from the Netherlands. This variety features a compact rosette of crisp dark red leaves with a smooth surface and glossy sheen. The leaves have a rich triple-red hue and a mild pleasant taste, making the salad especially appealing for fresh consumption and salad mixtures. Due to its vibrant color and excellent flavor, Galatea is in high demand in the fresh vegetable market.

Galatea is characterized by high resistance to various diseases, including lettuce mosaic virus, false powdery mildew, and powdery mildew. The variety does not tend to flower or bolt, ensuring a stable and high yield of marketable product. Plants slowly form rosettes, contributing to a prolonged harvest period without loss of leaf quality.

This salad is versatile in cultivation: it is suitable for year-round growing in open ground, protected ground, and hydroponics. Galatea quickly adapts to various growing technologies, enabling early harvests in spring and autumn. Due to its characteristics, the variety is ideal for sale at fresh produce markets and for use in diverse culinary applications.
