Lettuce Rosana

Rosana Endive: Aesthetics and Culinary Texture

In the landscape of lettuce varieties, Rosana occupies a unique niche as a classic frisée endive. Its standout feature is the deep red coloration of its finely cut, curly leaves, which elevates it from a basic salad ingredient to a stunning visual element on any plate. Unlike standard green lettuces, Rosana brings both aesthetic contrast and a crisp, sophisticated texture to the table.

Agronomic Profile and Performance

• Maturation period: 70–90 days. This plant requires a patient approach, but the reward is a dense, well-formed rosette that meets market standards.
• Cultivation technique: The recommended planting density is 11 plants per square meter. This spacing is vital to ensure proper airflow through the dense curly foliage, which is essential for preventing rot and maintaining high quality.
• Harvest quality: The average weight of the rosette makes this variety highly practical for both retail distribution and the professional foodservice industry.

Strategic Positioning

Rosana is an excellent choice for growers focusing on high-value niche markets. Due to its maturation timeline and the precise density required for optimal growth, it demands diligent irrigation management and environmental control. In return, growers achieve a product with exceptional marketability and the robust flavor profile characteristic of premium red endive.

Strengths: Exceptional visual appeal, crisp texture, high demand in the HoReCa segment. Weaknesses: Requires strict adherence to agricultural protocols and precise planting density to ensure quality.
