Lettuce Robin

Consistent performance of a «Leaf Lettuce»

When dealing with oak-leaf lettuce varieties, the main headache is often their susceptibility to disease and rapid bolting. The Czech variety 'Robin' from Moravoseed has proven to be a highly practical choice for those who value reliability. Whether you are growing for the market or for your own kitchen, this variety offers a level of predictability that is hard to find elsewhere.

Agronomy and Protection

The first thing you notice when working with 'Robin' is its resilience. In high-humidity conditions, where other varieties start to succumb to powdery mildew, this Czech-bred lettuce holds its ground firmly. Its resistance to downy mildew (Peronospora) isn't just a marketing claim—it is a tangible benefit that saves on fungicide costs. Minimal treatment is required, allowing for a cleaner product with lower chemical inputs.

Appearance and Harvesting

The leaves of 'Robin' are dense with a rich, vibrant color. It forms a compact yet heavy rosette, which is crucial when selling produce by weight. Harvesting is straightforward; the leaves are less fragile than those of many other oak-leaf varieties, so there is significantly less breakage during transport, and the shelf appeal remains high. The root system is robust, ensuring quick establishment after transplanting and reducing crop loss.

Growing Tips

• Watch your planting density: this variety likes room to breathe; overcrowded beds may reduce its aesthetic quality.
• Manage your irrigation: 'Robin' is sensitive to soil moisture deficits, which can trigger premature bolting during hot weather.
• It performs exceptionally well in both open fields and greenhouse environments, showing impressive growth dynamics in both settings.

If you are looking for a variety that won't let you down in the middle of the season due to a sudden fungal outbreak, 'Robin' is a dependable tool for your production.
