Lettuce Rafael

Salat Rafael is a mid-season high-yield variety of romaine lettuce developed by the Dutch breeding company Rijk Zwaan. This universal variety is suitable for growing both in open and protected ground, including hydroponic systems, which ensures year-round production. The vegetation period is about 70-80 days, and the plant demonstrates high plasticity, continuing to form leaf mass even under unfavorable conditions and high solar activity.

The plant forms a compact rosette of dark green glossy leaves, which form open heads weighing about 0.5 kg and 25-30 cm in diameter. The lettuce is characterized by slow formation of a closed head, which contributes to its resistance to bolting and flowering. Due to its taste qualities with pronounced sweetness, Rafael is ideal for fresh consumption and for preparing salad mixes, making it in demand in the fresh vegetable market.

The variety is distinguished by high resistance to a number of diseases, including fusarium, downy mildew, necrosis, and mosaic virus, and is not susceptible to infestation by lettuce aphids. It is unpretentious to soil quality, however, to increase yield, moderate watering and loosening of the soil after watering is recommended. Thanks to its characteristics and resistance, Rafael lettuce is a reliable choice for farmers and gardeners aiming to obtain a stable and quality harvest.
