Pepon is an early-maturing type of Batavia lettuce, intended for cultivation in both open and protected ground, including winter block greenhouses. It is well-adapted to hot conditions and has high tolerance to bolting during the summer period, making it versatile for spring, summer, and autumn cultivation. The leaf rosette is semi-upright, about 17 cm high and 27 cm in diameter, with medium-sized, inverted egg-shaped leaves of dark green color, slightly ribbed and wavy along the edge. The leaves are dense with an oily consistency, which gives the lettuce a pleasant taste and excellent consumer qualities.
The Pepon variety is characterized by a semi-head shape with an open, flat-round head of medium density. The plant mass is approximately 240 grams, and the yield on low-volume culture reaches 5.7 kg per square meter. Thanks to its characteristics, the variety is suitable for cultivation on salad lines and various substrates, which expands its application possibilities in different conditions and agricultural technologies.
Special attention is paid to the variety's resistance to major lettuce diseases, such as downy mildew (Bl:1-28,30,31), green lettuce aphid (Nr:0), and fusarium (Fol:1). This significantly reduces the risk of crop losses and reduces the need for the application of chemical plant protection agents. The variety is included in the State Register of the Russian Federation and recommended for cultivation in personal subsidiary holdings, which confirms its reliability and popularity among gardeners and farmers.
