Lettuce RUSSIAN BOGATYR

Agronomic Profile and Selection Focus

The "Russkiy Bogatyr" lettuce, developed by the Gavrish breeding firm and the Research Institute of Vegetable Crops Selection, is a mid-season leaf lettuce variety engineered for consistent performance. By focusing on a high-vigor leaf rosette architecture, Gavrish has produced a cultivar that balances rapid biomass accumulation with high market quality.

Technical Breakdown: Design and Performance

The efficiency of the "Russkiy Bogatyr" variety lies in its specific physiological design. Unlike heading varieties that allocate significant energy to internal leaf compaction, this leaf-type variety optimizes its growth pattern to expand the rosette surface area.

• Plant Architecture: The leaf-type structure ensures that the plant does not form a dense head, which naturally improves air circulation around the base of the rosette. This is a crucial defense mechanism against humidity-related pathogens such as bottom rot.
• Growth Dynamics: Classified as mid-season, the variety maintains a stable developmental rate. This predictability in timing is essential for commercial growers managing a production schedule and harvesting in shifts.
• Mass and Output: With a standardized average mass, the plant develops a rosette that is easy to harvest and handle. The leaf texture is consistent, maintaining vitality throughout the optimal harvest window.

From an operational standpoint, "Russkiy Bogatyr" is a pragmatic choice for producers focusing on leaf yield per square meter. The lack of a dense heart simplifies the harvesting process and minimizes waste, making it an efficient crop for both field cultivation and controlled environments where management of space and time is a priority.
