Kiribati lettuce is an early leafy variety of the oak-leaf type, developed by the Dutch seed company Rijk Zwaan. It is suitable for year-round cultivation, both in open ground and protected soil, as well as in hydroponic systems. The vegetation period is 40-45 days, allowing for quick harvest. The plant forms a dense rosette with bright, glossy, deep green leaves that have an attractive market appearance and excellent flavor. The average weight of the lettuce varies from 250 to 600 grams depending on growing conditions.

This variety shows high adaptability to various cultivation techniques and resistance to bolting, ensuring stable yield formation. Kiribati exhibits resistance to several diseases, including necrosis, false powdery mildew, leaf rust, as well as lettuce aphids and lettuce mosaic virus. Thanks to these qualities, the lettuce maintains health and market appearance even under intensive cultivation. During growth, the crop requires balanced watering, as both overwatering and underwatering negatively affect growth rate and product quality.

The leaves of Kiribati lettuce have the characteristic shape of oak leaves, are compact, light green with a net-like structure, giving the lettuce unique decorative appeal. Due to its excellent taste and attractive appearance, this lettuce is widely used fresh, in culinary applications, and for industrial processing into salad mixes. This variety is ideal for cultivation during winter, spring, and autumn periods, making it a versatile choice for farmers and fresh vegetable producers.
