Description Lea
The Lea lettuce is a semi-head type Lollo Rossa variety with a rich dark red leaf color, varying from dark red to dark burgundy. The plant features a compact, medium-sized rosette with glossy, round leaves that retain their color and shape throughout the growing period. The variety is characterized by a dome-like shape and an upright structure, ensuring stability and an attractive appearance.

This lettuce variety is distinguished by its high early maturity—harvest can be collected as early as 60 days after sowing. Lea is adapted for year-round cultivation both in open ground and in protected greenhouse conditions. The plant is cold-hardy, undemanding regarding soil type and agronomic conditions, making it suitable for growing in various climatic zones. Seeds are recommended to be sown at a depth of 1-2 cm with a planting scheme of 25x25 or 20x35 cm, and harvesting is done manually.

Lea lettuce exhibits high resistance to a range of diseases and unfavorable factors, including leaf tip burn, bolting, powdery mildew, fusarium wilt, necrosis, as well as green aphids. These qualities ensure harvest stability and high product quality. Due to its characteristics, the variety is widely used both for fresh market supply and processing. The seed producer is Enza Zaden from the Netherlands.
