Athmos

Athmos (Athmos) lettuce is an early, semi-heading lettuce variety of the Lollo Rossa type, developed by the breeding company Rijk Zwaan. This variety is characterized by its early maturity and high yield, allowing fresh produce to be harvested throughout the season, from spring to summer. The vegetative period ranges from 30 to 40 days from transplanting seedlings into the soil. Athmos is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under cover, demonstrating good heat tolerance and resilience to adverse weather conditions.

The plant is adapted to various soil types, except acidic soils, with an optimal pH level between 7.0 and 7.5. Lettuce seeds germinate with high viability — up to 97% even under unfavorable conditions. The leaves have a burgundy hue, smooth surface with slight waviness and curly texture, forming a round rosette with even layering. The average head weight ranges from 350 to 500 grams. After cutting, the greens retain firmness and juiciness, ensuring excellent marketability and long storage life.

The Athmos variety exhibits high resistance to various diseases, including necrosis, bolting, marginal burn, lettuce aphid, mosaic virus, and false powdery mildew. Due to these qualities and its attractive appearance, this lettuce is widely used for fresh produce markets. It is ideal for making salads, vegetable smoothies, children’s food, and serves as an attractive garnish for dishes. The recommended planting density is 10-12 plants per square meter, ensuring optimal growth and maximum yield.
