Lettuce Bakero

Dutch breeding excellence

The «Bakero» lettuce hybrid from Enza Limited is a recognized standard for farmers focusing on intensive leaf lettuce production. Developed in the Netherlands, this variety reflects the Dutch tradition of combining agronomic precision with high commercial viability. By prioritizing genetic resilience, the cultivar addresses the core challenges that modern producers face, ensuring reliability in both open field and protected environments.

Genetics focused on resilience

Pathogen pressure is the primary factor limiting lettuce profitability. «Bakero» offers a robust defense system, specifically engineered to withstand False Mildew (Bremia lactucae). This resistance is crucial for maintaining high quality in regions with volatile weather conditions. Furthermore, the hybrid's immunity to Lettuce Mosaic Virus (LMV) prevents the leaf deformation that often leads to crop rejection, ensuring that a higher percentage of the harvest meets market specifications.

Key advantages for professional growers:

• Production consistency: The uniformity of plant development significantly streamlines the harvest process and simplifies logistics.
• Versatility: «Bakero» performs reliably across various growing systems, providing producers with flexibility in their cultivation cycles.
• Market performance: The leaf structure ensures both aesthetic appeal and shelf-life stability, which are critical requirements for modern retail chains.

By opting for a variety like «Bakero», professional growers reduce their reliance on excessive chemical treatments. Enza Limited has effectively integrated pest resistance into a productive framework, allowing for more sustainable farming practices without compromising yield. This makes «Bakero» a preferred choice for operations that prioritize high-quality standards and efficient resource management.
