Lettuce Alesso

The Dutch standard for the fresh market

The «Alesso» lettuce from the Dutch breeding company Enza Limited is a classic Batavia type that has earned farmers' trust due to its predictability and produce quality. In modern vegetable farming, where requirements for leaf appearance and disease resistance are constantly rising, this variety remains a benchmark solution for the fresh market segment.

Technology and protection

The main value of «Alesso» lies in its comprehensive genetic protection. Breeders at Enza Limited have focused on resistance to key pathogens that threaten yields:

• High resistance to downy mildew (Bremia lactucae);
• Immunity to lettuce mosaic virus (LMV).

This package of characteristics allows for a significant reduction in pesticide use, which is critical when growing produce for retail chains and the HoReCa sector.

Agronomic potential

The vegetation period is 50–60 days, making «Alesso» a convenient tool for continuous production. The plant forms a light-green rosette with an attractive leaf structure. The average head weight is optimal for both individual packaging and bulk sales. Thanks to stable growth in open fields, the variety demonstrates excellent uniformity, which simplifies logistics and post-harvest processing.

By choosing «Alesso», the grower acquires not just seeds, but a proven technology from a market leader, ensuring high commercial quality even under challenging weather conditions.
