Alfalfa Poltavchanka

Yield stability under challenging conditions

Alfalfa 'Poltavchanka' is a choice for agronomists prioritizing stand longevity and a predictable forage supply. Working with this variety, you immediately notice the difference in vegetative potential: the plant height ranges from 80 to 120 cm, ensuring excellent green mass yields even with moderate fertilization. The breeding work by the Poltava Vavilov Institute targeted a practical goal: to provide a crop that does not fail in rotation due to disease pressure.

Phytosanitary immunity

The most frustrating aspect of alfalfa management is the risk of losing plots to root rot. 'Poltavchanka' demonstrates pronounced resistance to Fusarium and bacterial wilt. In practical terms, this translates to the absence of 'bald spots' in the field and stable stand density over 3–5 years of use. For an operator, this is critical: you avoid the need for re-seeding or constant adjustment of seeding rates due to emergence loss.

Operation and harvesting features

• Regrowth speed: After each cut, the crop recovers quickly, allowing you to schedule mowing without prolonged equipment downtime.
• Harvest efficiency: A height of up to 120 cm makes mowing effective, with stems drying evenly in the swath, which simplifies subsequent baling.
• Forage quality: Due to high leafiness, you obtain balanced haylage or hay with high protein content.

By choosing this variety, you are investing in a reliable tool for forage production that requires minimal 'maintenance' of agronomic practices and delivers predictable tonnage per hectare.
