The crested wheatgrass «Ayyystal» is one of the most productive varieties recognized by scientific research for its high green mass yield and stable feed value. Experiments conducted in the forest-steppe zone of the Krasnoyarsk Krai showed the variety demonstrated an average yield of 18.79 t/ha, making it a leader among the compared samples. Dry matter collection was 3.91 t/ha, and crude and digestible protein content was 0.83 t/ha and 0.56 t/ha respectively. These indicators confirm the high energy value of the product (33.35 GJ/ha) and its suitability as a feed additive for cattle.
The nutritional value of «Ayyystal» is characterized not only by high protein content but also by the stability of dry matter composition. Studies noted significant plasticity of the variety: it maintains high yield and nutrient content under various climatic conditions, including drought periods. Moreover, «Ayyystal» demonstrates moderate transpiration, which allows water saving without loss of product quality.
The variety is easy to grow: sowing is done in rows with a non-cover seed decomposition, and planting repetition is four times. Thanks to the stable root system structure and good adaptation to the forest-steppe ecosystem, «Ayyystal» easily integrates into existing agro-technical schemes without the need for additional drought protection measures. This makes it an attractive choice for farmers seeking to increase feed base efficiency with minimal water resource costs.
