Rukola Indau «Summer Freshness» is an early variety developed by German breeders N.L.Chrestensen. The variety is characterized by an extended vegetative period: 65–70 days from germination to the start of flowering, allowing for harvest throughout the entire season. Seeds germinate at temperatures not below +8 °C and are sown at a depth of 1–1.5 cm. For maximum productivity, sowing every 10–15 days is recommended.
Summer Freshness is distinguished by a bright, refreshing taste of young greens with a wasabi-like spiciness and a light nutty aftertaste. Plants form large rosettes of aromatic leaves, making them attractive both for Mediterranean cuisine and for those who value healthy eating.
Green yield is 2.2–2.5 kg/m². Harvesting is done before the flowering stalks are thrown out; regular cutting maintains the delicate taste and texture of the leaves. For successful cultivation in open ground, timely watering, weeding, soil loosening, and fertilizing are required. Rukola Indau is also suitable for greenhouse conditions, providing fresh greens year-round.
