Description SHIRA RAISIN
Shira raisin is a technical variety of medium ripening period, selected in Crimea and widely distributed along the South Coast of the region. The period from bud break to full berry maturity is about 149 days with an accumulated active temperature sum of about 2800 °C. Bushes of this variety are characterized by medium vigor and good wood ripening, which ensures stable yield and fruit quality.

Shira raisin clusters are predominantly medium-sized, wide-conical or indeterminate in shape, with density ranging from medium to loose. Berries have an oval or round shape, intense black color with a dense waxy bloom (pruinose) and rather thick skin. The flesh is juicy and pleasant to taste, with colorless juice. Berries contain 2 to 4 large seeds. The variety is prone to high sugar accumulation, making it particularly valuable for the production of dessert wines. Sugar content in the juice reaches an average of 21.5 g/100 ml, while acidity is about 6.2 g/l.

Shira raisin is distinguished by high frost resistance (up to -21°C) and diseases, including downy mildew and powdery mildew, ensuring reliable cultivation in various climatic conditions. The variety is suitable for fresh consumption, drying, as well as for the production of juices and wines, in particular the original brand dessert wine "Black Doctor", known for its harmonious soft taste with notes of chocolate and prune. For optimal fruiting, it is recommended to plant the variety together with pollinators and conduct medium pruning of the vine.
