Lanka

Lanka — a table grape variety of Ukrainian selection, representing a complex interspecific hybrid. This variety is characterized by a medium ripening period, ranging from 130 to 145 days from bud break to full berry ripening. The plants have medium growth vigor, with three-lobed leaves without hairs. Bunches are large or medium-sized, conical, loose, and of medium density, weighing 400 to 600 grams. Berries are large, egg-shaped with a pointed tip, white in color with a strong waxy coating, have a tough skin and juicy flesh.

The taste of the berries is simple, with a sugar content of 15-16% and acidity of 5-6 g/l, providing a tasting score of about 7.3 points. The variety has high and stable yield, with good shoot maturation. Fruit-bearing shoots account for about 78%, with an average of 1.1 clusters per developed shoot and 1.4 per fruit-bearing shoot. Lanka has moderate cold resistance, tolerating temperatures down to -22°С. The variety exhibits increased resistance to diseases such as mildew and oidium, significantly simplifying vineyard care.

For plant formation, a four-armed fan-shaped pruning with a load of 35-40 buds and fruiting cane pruning to 5-7 buds is recommended. However, the variety is prone to overloading with fruit, so for a cordoned trunk formation at a height of 0.7-0.8 m, it is recommended to limit the load to 22-24 shoots per plant and prune fruiting canes to 3-4 buds. Lanka roots well and is compatible with rootstocks, as well as has good transportability, making it convenient for commercial cultivation and marketing.
