Description

The Shasla pink grape variety belongs to early-ripening varieties and is a variation of the Shasla white variety. The period from bud break to full berry ripening is on average 129 days with a sum of active temperatures of about 2600°C. Bushes are vigorous, with small and medium leaves, round, five-lobed, and deeply cut, with a characteristic netted-wrinkled pattern and bristly pubescence underneath. Flowers are hermaphroditic, which promotes good pollination and crop formation. Bunches have a conical or cylindroconical shape, are dense, and of medium weight, about 195 grams.

Shasla pink berries are large, weighing about 2.2 grams, round, with dark pink skin, which upon keeping on the bushes acquires a red shade with a purple sheen and a thick waxy bloom. The skin is thin but more durable compared to other variations of the variety, which ensures good transportability and relatively stable storage. The berry pulp is tender and juicy, with a pleasant taste, which makes this grape in demand both for fresh consumption and for wine production.

The variety is characterized by medium frost resistance and disease resistance, however, it is susceptible to damage by fungal diseases and winter frosts. It does not differ in drought resistance, which requires appropriate care and growing conditions. The yield of the variety is 80-100 centners per hectare. Due to the combination of early ripening, attractive appearance, and good taste qualities, Shasla pink grape deserves widespread dissemination and use.
