The Strashenskiy grape variety is a hybrid table variety with dark blue or black berries, distinguished by a pleasant taste and high commercial value. The berries are large, oval-shaped, weighing from 6 to 14 grams, with a thick pruinous bloom. Bunches are elongated, cylindrical in shape, of medium density or loose, weighing from 585 grams to 1.5-5 kilograms, making them particularly attractive for sale and use in the production of high-quality wines. The tasting score of fresh grapes reaches 8 points, confirming its excellent taste qualities.
The variety belongs to mid-late varieties, with a ripening period of from 130 to 150 days. Strashenskiy grape bushes are large, with an annual shoot growth of up to 7 meters, ensuring high yield - up to 200 centners per hectare or about 30 kilograms per bush in garden plots. The variety is characterized by good frost resistance down to -21...-24 degrees, moderate drought resistance, and resistance to mildew, phylloxera, and spider mites. However, it is less resistant to grey rot of berries and oidium, which requires attention during care and plant protection.
Growing Strashenskiy grapes is possible in various climatic conditions, including northern and southern regions of Ukraine. Due to high yield, commercial value, and good transportability, the variety is suitable for both commercial growing and home gardens. Bushes require regular care, as many suckers and shoots are formed during the season, which contributes to the formation of an abundant harvest. The variety is well compatible with rootstocks SO-4 and Kober 5BB, expanding its possibilities in viticulture.
