Description SHASLA MUSCAT
The Shasla Muscat grape variety is an early-ripening table variety with high yield, although it can be inconsistent. The bushes of this variety are vigorous, with characteristic wavy leaves and strongly down-turned edges. Bunches are usually cylindrical, looser and shorter compared to the Shasla White variety. Berries are medium-sized, oval or round, golden or yellow in color, with a thin skin and fleshy juicy pulp. The taste of the berries is tender and pleasant, with a pronounced light muscat aroma, which is highly valued by consumers. The variety differs in medium frost resistance and disease resistance, which requires certain attention during cultivation. Bushes mature well, and berries ripen 7-10 days earlier than Shasla White. However, the yield of this variety is better used for fresh consumption, as it does not withstand long transportation and is not suitable for storage. Shasla Muscat grapes are suitable for cultivation on light loamy, sandy, and clay soils, preferring southern and south-western slopes. The technological characteristics of the variety allow it to be used not only as a table grape, but also for the production of blended and semi-sweet wines, as well as juices. The sugar content of the must varies from 16 to 21.9 g/100 ml, acidity – from 3.8 to 7.2 g/l. Wines from this variety are characterized by stable quality, moderately pronounced delicate muscat aroma, and honey notes. To obtain good yields, it is recommended to use a four-arm cordonless fan training system with a load of 35-40 buds per bush.
