Description PUHKLYAKOVSKY
Puhlyakovsky is a table grape variety of white color that has become widely popular in the Don region. The bushes of this variety are vigorous, with medium-sized leaves, five-lobed and deeply cut, with a characteristic bristly-hairy pubescence on the underside. The clusters of Puhlyakovsky are cylindrical, of medium and large size, dense, weighing about 135-150 grams. The berries are oval-egg-shaped, greenish-white, with thick skin and fleshy pulp, possessing a pleasant musky aroma. The variety is medium-late, ripening in about 150 days with a sum of active temperatures of about 3050°C. Yield is high, averaging 90 centners per hectare, although it can be inconsistent. Puhlyakovsky has medium frost resistance and resistance to fungal diseases, which is not different from most Vitis vinifera grape varieties. Thanks to its density and tough skin, the berries withstand long-term storage and transportation over long distances well. Historically, the variety is associated with the Cossack expedition of Count Platov and the khutor Sobachinsky, where cuttings were first grown that gave rise to Puhlyakovsky white. This grape is valued for its taste qualities and is widely used not only in fresh form but also for producing table wines, champagne, and grape juices. In the 19th century, the khutor was renamed Puhlyakovsky in honor of the high quality of wine produced from this variety.
