The DONUS grape variety is a white technical variety developed by the Ya.I. Potapenko All-Russian Grape Breeding Institute. It features large clusters weighing from 0.25 to 0.35 kg and oval-shaped berries, each weighing from 3 to 4 grams. The berry flesh is fleshy and juicy with a pronounced muscat aroma, giving the wine and juices a distinctive character. The variety ripens in the first decade of September, classifying it as mid-late ripening, and is well-adapted to climatic conditions, such as those in Novocherkassk. DONUS is characterized by high yield and resistance to fungal diseases, making it a reliable choice for viticulturists. Grafting onto the Cobert 5BB rootstock promotes yield stability and increased disease resistance. Additionally, the variety exhibits good cold hardiness, withstanding temperatures down to -27 °C, and is characterized by vigorous growth, facilitating its cultivation in various climatic zones. This grape is widely used for the production of still and sparkling wines, as well as juices, thanks to its high sugar content and excellent taste qualities. Its technical characteristics and taste features make the DONUS variety in demand among winemaking producers seeking to produce a high-quality product with a bright muscat aroma.
