Ukrainka is a highly productive early-maturing persimmon variety that has become the most common in the country due to its disease and frost resistance, as well as excellent taste qualities. The tree is bred from virgin persimmon and has an average height of 3-4 meters, with a compact crown diameter of up to 3 m. The beauty of the variety lies in the fact that it is self-fertile: pollinators are not needed for its growth, and annual spring pruning ensures healthy development and maintains a compact shape.
Ukrainka fruits are of medium size (100-120 g), round-flat with a thin, shiny yellow-orange skin that has a light waxy bloom. The flesh is sweet, dense, and juicy; when fully ripe, it becomes soft, does not wilt, and has a pleasant aroma. Taste qualities are rated at 5 points in fresh appearance, and sugar content is about 22.6%, which makes the fruits especially attractive to consumers.
The variety is grown with high yield (up to 250 centners per hectare) and has excellent transportability: fruits are well preserved and do not wilt during transport. Ukrainka demonstrates high resistance to drought, frost (up to -28-30 °C) and diseases, which allows it to be grown in various regions of the country without additional treatments. In the first few years in northern regions, winter cover is recommended to ensure optimal growth.
