Soldayya is a medium-late maturing technical variety of grapevine bred and adapted for cultivation in the North Caucasus region and Crimea. The bushes are vigorous with good shoot ripening. Leaves are medium-sized, round or medium-lobed, densely hirsute with cobweb-like hair, varying from three- to five-lobed, with a closed elliptical petiole sinus. Flowers are perfect, which promotes good pollination and crop formation.
Bunches are medium to large, conical in shape, often winged, with density ranging from medium to dense. Berries are medium to large, oval or weakly oval in shape, white in color with characteristic brown or sun-tan spots. The berry skin is thick, the flesh is juicy and crisp. Sugar content in berries at harvest maturity reaches 21 g per 100 cm³, while acidity is about 6.5 g/dm³, ensuring high-quality raw material for the production of dessert wines with a tasting score of about 8.6 points.
Yield varies depending on the region and growing conditions, reaching from 99 to 190 centners per hectare. The variety is distinguished by its disease resistance, being affected to a weak degree, which reduces the need for intensive plant protection. Thanks to its characteristics and berry quality, Soldayya is suitable for technical use, in particular for the production of high-quality dessert wines.
