Dnistrovsky Rose

Dnistrovsky Rose — a universal grape variety distinguished by high yield and decorative appeal. The vines are vigorous, with hermaphroditic flowers, ensuring good fruiting. Bunches are medium to large in size, cylindrical or cylindrical-conical in shape, medium to dense, weighing up to 310 grams. Berries are slightly oval, medium-sized, rose-colored with a strong waxy coating that gives them an attractive appearance. The skin is thin but tough, the flesh juicy and fleshy, with a simple flavor. Berries contain 2 to 4 seeds. The autumn leaf color is bright burgundy, making the vines decorative during leaf fall. The variety has a long vegetative period — from bud break to harvest maturity takes 155–160 days with a sum of active temperatures of 2950–3000°C. Dnistrovsky Rose grows well on southern and south-western slopes with light loamy and sandy soils. It reacts sharply to water deficiency, which reduces growth vigor, although one-year shoots mature satisfactorily. Fruit-bearing shoots should be pruned short, to 2–3 buds, with a load of 60–70 buds and 45–50 shoots per vine. The rootstock used is Riparia x Rupicola 101-14. The variety exhibits relatively high resistance to mildew, allowing cultivation without spraying during the growing season. Moderately resistant to oidium, but 1–2 treatments are required during severe epidemics. Berries are practically unaffected by gray rot and remain well on the vines until autumn frosts. Dnistrovsky Rose grape is suitable for fresh consumption, transportation, and long-term storage with losses not exceeding 8.8% over 100 days. The variety is also used for greening walls, gazebos, and galleries due to its decorative foliage and attractive clusters.
