Description Salamanca
The Salamanca pea variety is a high-yielding spring-type yellow pea with leafless, erect plants, facilitating easy combine harvesting. Registered in the Ukrainian Variety Register since 2014, it features an intensive growth type. Plant height reaches up to 105 cm, with high lodging resistance, helping preserve yield and simplify mechanized harvesting.

The variety exhibits high yield, averaging 55.9–59 c/ha across various Ukrainian farms. Salamanca has a medium-early flowering period and rapid early growth, enabling effective use of agronomic practices. Seeds have a 1000-seed mass ranging from 220–260 g and contain high protein levels — 20.7–23.3% — making it attractive for both feed and food applications.

Salamanca is recommended for cultivation across various climatic zones of Ukraine, including the Polesie, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe regions, with emphasis on central, eastern, and western areas. The variety’s drought tolerance is rated as moderate, requiring consideration of weather conditions when planning sowing. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, Salamanca suits various soil types and ensures stable, high-quality yields.
