SОРВАНЕЦ is an early-maturing variety of vegetable pea intended for fresh consumption, canning, drying, and freezing. The period from full germination to the beginning of technical maturity is 45-62 days, which corresponds to the Alpha standard. Plants reach a height of 67-75 cm, have a sturdy stem ensuring non-laying until full maturity. Pods are slightly curved with a blunt tip, contain 7-9 seeds, and the pea in technical maturity is characterized by smoothness and uniformity in size. The taste quality of fresh peas is considered excellent, making the variety in demand for home cooking and industrial processing.
Plants of the SОРВАНЕЦ variety are characterized by synchronized ripening and average stem length with 8-9 internodes to the first inflorescence. Leaves are large, green with a waxy coating and a grayish tint, stipules are of average size with medium-density spotting. Flowers are white and large, while pods in technical maturity are green with a parchment layer. The height of attachment of lower pods is 31-46 cm, and the yield of green peas from pods reaches 49%. Seeds are wrinkled, small or medium size with a green cotyledon, the mass of 1000 seeds varies from 170 to 270 g.
For successful cultivation of the variety, sowing is recommended in late April – early May to a depth of 4-6 cm, followed by the installation of supports 1-1.2 m high. Plants require timely watering, regular weeding, loosening, and feeding with mineral fertilizers to ensure good growth and abundant fruiting. The yield of green peas of the SОРВАНЕЦ variety is 56-63 c/ha, which significantly exceeds the Alpha standard indicators. The variety is valued for its excellent technological qualities and disease resistance, which makes it attractive for cultivation in the Central and Volga-Vyatka regions.
