Garlic Aisberg

Practical insights on growing 'Iceberg' garlic

As a non-bolting variety, it eliminates the labor-intensive task of scape removal, which is a major advantage for large-scale operations.

Operational performance and cultivation

The variety shows high adaptability, yielding excellent results whether planted as a winter or spring crop. This flexibility allows for efficient rotation planning. Its brilliant white skin gives the bulbs a high-quality aesthetic that is highly demanded in fresh markets. While mechanical harvesting requires careful timing to prevent skin damage, the bulbs show excellent durability and shelf life when stored correctly.

Business advantages

• Flavor Profile: A balanced, mild-to-medium pungency that works well for both culinary use and industrial processing.
• Storage: High bulb density ensures excellent shelf life with minimal weight loss during long-term storage.
• Commercial potential: An ideal candidate for growers who prioritize low reject rates and high marketability.

'Iceberg' does not demand complex or specialized fertilization regimens, responding well to standard agronomic practices. It is a workhorse variety for producers who prefer the reliability of established breeding from NPF Agrosemtoms over experimenting with volatile hybrids. Consistent quality at the point of sale is what makes this variety a preferred choice for sustainable crop management.
