DONSKOY

DONSKOY is a medium-late variety of winter garlic, characterized by a large, round-flat bulb with a bluish-gray papery skin. The average bulb weight is about 70 grams; it consists of six wide and very large cloves with grayish skin. The garlic flesh is white and has a semi-sharp taste, making it versatile for various culinary applications.

Plants of this variety are stem-forming, which is an important feature during cultivation. The variety is characterized by good resistance to yellow dwarfism and can successfully adapt to different climatic conditions. The yield of the variety exceeds 1.2 kg per square meter, making it attractive for farmers and gardeners.

Garlic planting is recommended in the second half of September – early October, about a month and a half before the onset of frost. During the growing period, in the absence of rain, regular watering once a week is necessary, which is stopped a few weeks before harvest. To preserve heat and protect from frost, the soil around the garlic is mulched with peat or manure in a layer of 2-3 cm, and also a covering of grass or fir branches can be used, which is removed in spring after the frost ends. Harvest usually occurs in late July – early August.
