Espartete "Ataman" – a medium-maturing variety from the Onobrychis Mill. genus, characterized by a medium plant height of 100–110 cm and strong bushiness. Stems have moderate roughness, without hairiness, and leaves are lanceolate or oval, dark green, and devoid of a waxy coating. Inflorescences are loose spindle-shaped racemes 6–7 cm long with a pinkish hue, where round brown pods are formed.
The variety is distinguished by good yield of both green mass (about 297 kg/ha) and dry matter (approximately 79 kg/ha). Crude protein content is about 18.3%, and fiber is 31%. These indicators make "Ataman" a valuable feed material for various livestock. Pods have a bean shape and brown color.
Espartete is widely used as a hay-forming plant due to its high nutritional value and resistance to various climatic conditions. Thanks to its strong root system, it contributes to improving soil structure, increasing its permeability and moisture retention. This makes the variety useful in both open pastures and combined crop-livestock systems.
