The Baklazhan variety Kolobok is a large-fruited plant with powerful bushes up to one meter tall, which require tying and attentive care. The fruits of this variety have an unusual spherical shape and rich black-purple coloration. The average weight of the baklazhan is about 400 grams, but with proper agrotechnics, individual fruits can reach a mass of 700 grams or more. The flesh of the baklazhan is white, tender, and without bitterness, with small seeds that are not felt in prepared dishes. The taste of the fruits is excellent, and the caviar made from them is considered a real delicacy.
The variety is characterized by high yields, reaching 6-7 kg per square meter. The first harvest can be collected just 105-110 days after germination. To obtain a quality harvest, seedlings are transplanted in the phase of one true leaf, and when side shoots appear, 3-5 of the strongest are left, the rest are pinched off. At the end of August, it is recommended to leave 5-6 large ovaries on the plant, removing the rest, which contributes to the formation of large and tasty fruits.
Baklazhan Kolobok is suitable for various culinary purposes thanks to its shape and taste qualities. They can be used to make caviar, roast meat and vegetables, and thanks to the spherical shape of the fruits, they are conveniently used as своеобразные горшочки (small pots) for roasting. The plant requires attentive care and feeding, but when agrotechnical recommendations are followed, it ensures a stable and quality harvest.
