Eggplant BACARA

Technical Profile of the 'Bakara' Hybrid

The 'Bakara' hybrid, developed by VNIISSOK, is engineered specifically for open-field cultivation, where resilience to thermal fluctuations and consistent fruit setting are paramount. The hybrid's architecture is based on a mid-early maturity cycle, requiring 100–110 days from transplanting to technical maturity. This timing is critical for avoiding extreme summer peak temperatures and ensuring harvest completion before early autumn frosts.

Morphological and Commercial Specifications

• Fruit Geometry: The rounded shape facilitates even heat distribution during plant development, reducing the risk of rot often associated with soil contact.
• Mass and Density: A weight range of 100–200 grams is optimized for culinary standard-sizing, ensuring uniform output for wholesale and retail distribution.
• Pigmentation: The deep dark-purple skin serves as an indicator of high anthocyanin concentration, a key marker of genetic stress resistance.

The practical utility of 'Bakara' lies in its predictability. In open-field conditions, this hybrid develops a compact bush structure, eliminating the need for complex staking systems and significantly reducing labor costs per hectare. The consistency in fruit mass ensures a uniform product lot, which is a decisive factor for supply chain efficiency.
