Description
Dill variety 'Patterns' is a mid-late variety with a vegetative period of 42-57 days from mass emergence to green harvesting and 85-105 days to flowering. The plant is characterized by a dark green color with a slight waxy coating and is well-leafed. The leaves are deeply cut, and the segments are located close to each other, giving the plant a voluminous appearance due to the formation of 3-5 first-order branches reaching a diameter of 25-30 cm. The plant height is 120-144 cm, making it quite large and compact during the flowering stage.
The variety has high aromaticity and good disease resistance, as well as slow stem elongation, which increases the period of green usage. Dill 'Patterns' is characterized by increased dry matter content (about 10%) and vitamin C (25.4 mg/%), making it valuable for culinary and medicinal use. The plant is cold-hardy and light-loving, preferring fertile, moist loam or sandy loam soils.
Dill can be sown in spring, starting from mid-April, as well as under winter in the second decade of October. Sparse sowing is recommended with a distance between plants of 10-12 cm and rows of 20-25 cm when sowing in rows at a depth of 2-3 cm. Successful cultivation requires care such as weeding, fertilizing, and watering. Harvesting of green mass is carried out as the green mass grows, which allows for long-term dill usage.
