Ella

Coriander variety Ella — a medium-maturing hybrid from the Dutch company Enza Zaden, suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in greenhouses. This variety features compact plants with dark green leaves that have a bluish tint and pleasant aroma. Plant height reaches 25–30 cm, and short internodes give the coriander an neat and attractive appearance. Ella grows quickly and has excellent market appearance, making it suitable for year-round cultivation on balcony beds and in pots.

For successful cultivation of Ella coriander, choose sunny spots with fertile and well-drained soil. The plant prefers moderate temperatures, with an optimal growth temperature of around 18 °C, although it can comfortably develop even at temperatures as low as +8 °C, allowing cultivation even on glassed-in balconies. Seeds are sown on moist soil surface, lightly covered, then the container is covered with plastic and kept in a dark place at around 20 °C for one week. To maintain a steady harvest of greens, plants should be regularly watered, especially during germination and emergence of seedlings, and fertilized with complex mineral fertilizers approximately every two weeks.

A distinctive feature of the Ella variety is that after cutting, stems and leaves do not regrow, so to ensure continuous supply of fresh greens, seeds should be sown every 14–21 days on the freed-up area. Coriander Ella has a delicate flavor and aroma, its greens are widely used fresh, and also suitable for canning and freezing. Due to its characteristics and ease of care, this variety is an excellent choice for home gardeners and those cultivating greens on small plots.
