Winter cucumber is a mix of well-known German parthenocarpic hybrids Haus gurken, specially developed for cultivation in indoor conditions and winter gardens. These cucumbers are capable of forming fruits without pollination, allowing them to grow successfully even in shade and at low temperatures. The mix includes hybrids Camilla F1, Sprint F1, Printo F1, Saladin F1, and Sindy F1, which are distinguished by their early ripening — the first fruits appear within 40-42 days after sowing. The plants are compact, fast-growing, with large, ribbed leaves and exclusively female flowering.
The fruits of the winter cucumber have a cylindrical shape, diverse appearance, dark green color, and a length ranging from 10 to 25 cm. They are covered with sparse medium-sized bumps with white hairs. These cucumbers are suitable for fresh consumption in salads as well as for pickling young fruits. Due to parthenocarpy, the plants do not require pollination, significantly simplifying their cultivation in enclosed spaces.
Winter cucumber hybrids can be grown year-round, including winter-spring, spring, and summer-autumn periods. They adapt well to temperature changes and maintain their flavor and appearance qualities for an extended period. This makes them an excellent choice for those who wish to obtain fresh cucumbers at home regardless of the season.
