The ZernoSlav hybrid sweet corn is a simple early-maturing variety with a maturity group of FAO 230, intended for grain use. The vegetation period is 105-108 days, plant height varies from 210 to 230 cm, and the ear is positioned at approximately 100 cm. The ear has a weak conical shape, 18-20 cm long, with 14-16 rows of yellow, dent kernels. The 1000-kernel weight is 320-350 g, and the grain yield reaches 80%. The seeds are treated with the "Vitavax" preparation, providing additional protection and improving germination.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to adverse conditions: it shows high drought tolerance (99%), heat tolerance (88%), lodging resistance (99%), as well as resistance to diseases such as common rust and pests, including corn borer (88%). Additionally, ZernoSlav features rapid early growth and high seedling resistance to short-term temperature drops, enabling successful cultivation across various climatic zones, including steppe, forest-steppe, and lowland areas, with recommended plant densities ranging from 35 to 100 thousand per hectare depending on the region.
Practical trials of the hybrid have demonstrated its high productivity and adaptability. On production plots in Kyiv and Vinnytsia regions, yields reached over 10 tons per hectare with grain moisture around 22%, and base grain moisture was achieved by mid-September even with late planting. The rapid loss of moisture by the grain during maturation simplifies harvest and reduces the risk of yield loss. All these characteristics make ZernoSlav a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve high and stable grain corn yields.
