Developed by the Institute of Grain Crops of the NAAS of Ukraine, this hybrid is classified as mid-late maturity (FAO 390, 120-140 days) and is specifically engineered for high-yield grain production. The technological value of this hybrid lies in its genetic architecture, which focuses on maximizing potential under intensive cultivation conditions.

Structure and Yield Parameters

As a simple hybrid, it ensures high crop uniformity, which significantly simplifies harvesting operations. The kernel is dent-type, characterized by a high specific gravity and a starch content of 70%, making it highly valuable for both food processing and animal feed sectors. Given its genetic predisposition for robust grain filling, the recommended harvest density is 70,000–75,000 plants per hectare.

Phytosanitary Resilience

A key focus of the breeding process for this hybrid was to provide built-in biological protection against common pathogens and pests:

• Smut Resistance: Genetic resistance to stalk and boil smut minimizes crop damage and yield losses.
• Pest Tolerance: The hybrid shows specific tolerance to the European corn borer; the structural integrity of the stalk and phenological timing complicate the pest's life cycle, effectively protecting the ears and preventing lodging.

DN Sarmat allows agronomists to design production plans with a focus on stable yield in regions with moderate moisture, where the extended vegetative period is successfully utilized to accumulate maximum dry matter.
