ZERNOGRADESKY 301 MV

ZERNOGRADESKY 301 MV — this is a medium-early simple modified hybrid of corn with FAO 300, developed by breeders of the MAIS company. Plants reach a height of up to 230 cm, with cylindrical-shaped ears attached at a height of about 130 cm. Each ear forms 16–18 rows of yellow dent kernels weighing 250–310 grams per 1000 kernels. Grain yield is 78–82%, and the vegetation period varies from 109 to 119 days depending on the growing region. The hybrid has moderate genetic predisposition to form two ears and weak anthocyanin pigmentation of plants. The hybrid exhibits high drought and heat resistance (9 out of 9), as well as good resistance to overheating and lodging in the ripening phase. Resistance to lodging 30 days after ripening is assessed as moderate (6 out of 9). Plants show moderate resistance to gray and dusty smut, as well as to corn borer (7 out of 9). Grain loses moisture at a moderate rate after maturity. The hybrid is resistant to sulfonylurea herbicides, which can be applied without restrictions. ZERNOGRADESKY 301 MV is recommended for cultivation in steppe, forest-steppe, and Polissia regions of Ukraine. The optimal soil temperature for sowing is +10–12 °C. The recommended plant density at harvest time varies by region: for Polissia — 65–75 thousand plants per hectare, for forest-steppe — 50–60 thousand, for northern steppe — 40–45 thousand, and for southern steppe — 30–35 thousand. The hybrid is versatile in use: suitable for grain, silage, and starch production. Grain yield potential reaches 135 centners per hectare in forest-steppe and 78–88 centners per hectare in steppe, while silage yield may reach up to 720 centners per hectare in Polissia.
