IR 301 is a medium-early simple modified hybrid corn with FAO maturity group 300, developed by MAIS. It is intended for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine, including steppe, forest-steppe, and Polissia. The vegetation period varies from 109 to 119 days depending on the region, allowing flexible adaptation to local conditions. Plants reach a height of about 230 cm, and cylindrical ears are positioned at approximately 130 cm. The ear contains 16-18 rows of yellow, dent-type kernels with 1000-kernel weight ranging from 250 to 310 grams and grain yield of 78-82%. The hybrid exhibits moderate seedling development speed and resistance to adverse factors. It shows high resistance to drought, high temperatures, and lodging in the physiological maturity phase, as well as moderate resistance to short-term cold, corn borer, and smut, rated 7 out of 9. Plants have weak anthocyanin pigmentation and can produce two ears, enhancing yield potential. Additionally, the hybrid is resistant to sulfonylurea herbicides, which can be applied without restrictions. IR 301 is versatile in use: suitable for grain, silage, and starch production. Recommended planting density varies by region, ranging from 35,000 to 65,000 plants per hectare, ensuring optimal yield. Grain yield potential reaches 135 centners per hectare in forest-steppe zones under favorable conditions, while silage yield can reach 720 centners per hectare. Grain loses moisture at a moderate rate after maturity, facilitating storage and processing. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, hybrid IR 301 is a reliable choice for farmers focused on high productivity and stress resistance.
