Description Zbruch
The Zbruch maize hybrid is a mid-season, high-yielding variety recommended for cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe regions of Ukraine. It was developed by the State Institution 'Institute of Steppe Zone Agriculture of NAAN of Ukraine' and registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2008. The hybrid is characterized by high technological efficiency and requires a high level of agronomic practices to achieve maximum results.

The plant reaches a height of 210-220 cm, does not branch, and the ear attachment height is 70-80 cm. The cylindrical ear is 20-22 cm long, contains 14-16 rows of kernels, with 38-40 kernels per row. The kernels are yellow and dent-shaped, with a 1000-kernel weight of 280-290 g. The plant density varies depending on the cultivation zone: 70-80 thousand plants/ha in forest-steppe regions and 45-55 thousand plants/ha in steppe regions.

The Zbruch hybrid exhibits high resistance to lodging, cold tolerance, drought resistance, as well as resistance to major diseases and pest damage. It shows strong water-extraction capacity in kernels and responds well to improved growing conditions. The potential grain yield is 11-13 t/ha, making it one of the leaders in its maturity group and an attractive choice for farmers aiming for high productivity.
