Description ZPSC 704
ZPSC 704 — a late-maturing, open-pollinated hybrid maize variety with FAO maturity group 700, developed by the Maize Research Institute "Zemun Polje". The hybrid's vegetation period is 135-140 days from emergence to full grain maturity, making it suitable for regions with longer growing seasons, such as the North Caucasus region. The hybrid has been registered since 1996 and is primarily intended for grain use.

ZPSC 704 plants are characterized by high stem height — from 270 to 290 cm, with ears attached at a height of 120-130 cm. The leaves have a deep green color and are arranged vertically, which promotes efficient photosynthesis and resistance to lodging. The ear is cylindrical, 23-25 cm long, covered with a dense husk, and contains 16-18 rows of yellow, dent-type kernels. The 1000-kernel weight is approximately 330 grams, indicating the hybrid's large kernel size.

The hybrid exhibits high resistance to lodging and tolerance to major diseases affecting stems, ears, and leaves, ensuring stable yields. The grain yield potential reaches 170 ц/га, and green mass yield can reach up to 700 ц/га, making ZPSC 704 attractive for producing high-quality silage and grain. The optimal plant density is 50-55 thousand plants per hectare, which maximizes the hybrid's agronomic potential.
