Mag

Corn hybrid Mag is a mid-early variety with FAO 290, registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2008. This variety is characterized by intensive grain moisture loss at maturity and high resistance to lodging, cold, pests, and major diseases. Plants reach a height of 200–210 cm, with cylindrical ears 20–21 cm long, containing 14–16 rows of kernels with 36–40 kernels per row. The grain is yellow and dent-shaped, with a 1000-kernel weight of 270–280 g. The potential yield reaches 11–12 tons per hectare, making this variety attractive for various cultivation zones, including Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe.

Hybrid Mag is versatile in use, suitable for both grain production and silage preparation. It is characterized by high compensatory ability when maintaining plant stands, good drought tolerance, and rapid early development. The variety is recommended for cultivation on various soil types, including poorly drained soils, and is adapted to conditions in western, southwestern, and central Ukraine, as well as the southern steppe region. The optimal planting density varies depending on the zone: from 45–50 thousand plants per hectare in steppe to 70–75 thousand in forest-steppe.

Special attention is given to the agronomic characteristics of the variety: high drought and disease resistance, lodging and pest tolerance ensure stable yields even under adverse climatic conditions. The ear attachment height is 60–70 cm, which facilitates harvesting and reduces losses. Thanks to these qualities, corn Mag is a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality yields in diverse agroclimatic zones.
