Tverdinya

Tverdinya — a medium-early hybrid of maize for grain purposes from the company MAIS with a maturity group of FAO 270 and a yield potential of 130-140 c/ha. This hybrid was registered in 2019 and was developed in collaboration with the Institute of Grain Crops of NAAN of Ukraine and the Agricultural Sector of MAIS. Tverdinya features a simple modified form, yellow dent kernels with a 1000-kernel weight of 280-295 g and a grain yield of 83-87%. Plant height reaches 270-280 cm, ear length is 19-21 cm, and the ear is attached at a height of 105-115 cm. The number of rows varies from 14 to 18, with 37-39 kernels per row.

The hybrid Tverdinya exhibits high ecological stability and adaptability to various climatic conditions in Ukraine. It demonstrates good moisture release, which facilitates rapid drying of the grain during maturation, as well as remontancy. Due to these qualities, Tverdinya responds well to improved growing conditions, enabling farmers to achieve stable and high yields.

Among the key advantages of the hybrid are high resistance to stress factors and diseases. Tverdinya shows high resistance to drought (8 out of 10), cold (9 out of 10), lodging (8 out of 10), fusarium (9 out of 10), stalk diseases (9 out of 10), and corn smut (9 out of 10). These characteristics make it a reliable choice for farmers aiming to obtain quality grain across various agroclimatic zones.
