Beans Orion

Field performance of the Orion variety

For an agronomist working with legumes, Orion is synonymous with predictability. Developed by the Institute of Forage Crops of the NAAS, this variety consistently performs well under Ukrainian climatic conditions without requiring overly complex agronomic management. With plant heights ranging from 81 to 120 cm, the crop is well-suited for mechanized harvesting, allowing combine operators to easily set optimal cutting heights to minimize grain loss.

Resilience and yield potential

Orion offers a robust defense system in the field. Its resistance to loose and boil smut reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications, while its stem integrity against the European corn borer helps cut down on insecticide costs. With a maturity window of 91-110 days, the variety allows for flexible integration into existing crop rotations, which is essential for efficient seasonal planning.

• Potential yield: 41-45 centners/ha.
• Growing season: Mid-ripening (91-110 days).
• Harvesting efficiency: High pod placement simplifies combine operation and reduces header losses.

If you are looking for a variety that is forgiving of minor scheduling slips and consistently delivers 4 tons per hectare, Orion is a reliable addition to your operational toolkit.
