The Rea corn hybrid is an early-maturing, simple-modified grain-type variety developed by breeders of the MAIS company (Ukraine) and registered in the Variety Register since 2020. This hybrid is characterized by high yield potential of 110–120 c/ha and rapid moisture reduction in grain during maturation, facilitating harvesting and subsequent processing. Rea is recommended for cultivation in various soil-climatic zones of Ukraine, including Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe, due to its adaptability and resistance to adverse conditions.
Plants reach a height of 230–250 cm, with cylindrical ears 22–24 cm long, attached at a height of 90–100 cm. Each ear contains 14–16 rows of dent-shaped yellow kernels, with 37–40 kernels per row. The 1000-kernel weight is 270–290 g, and milling yield reaches 83–85%. Harvesting moisture content is within the range of 12–15%, which is optimal for storage and processing.
The Rea hybrid exhibits high resistance to stress factors and diseases: drought resistance is rated at 8 points, cold resistance and lodging resistance — both at 9 points, Fusarium resistance — 9 points, rust resistance — 8 points, and corn borer resistance — 8.5 points. These characteristics make Rea a reliable choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality grain corn yield under various growing conditions.
