Maize Public

Stable yields for intensive grain production

The «Public» hybrid, developed by the Institute of Grain Crops of NAAS, is aimed at farms where the main objective is to maximize grain harvest. Thanks to its dent corn grain type, this hybrid demonstrates excellent dry-down rates, which is crucial for reducing post-harvest drying costs.

Agronomic field performance

• Pathogen resistance: A high resistance threshold to fusarium and smut diseases allows for reduced fungicide application rates during periods of high infection pressure, minimizing crop quality losses.
• Pest protection: Genetic resistance to the European corn borer simplifies insecticide spray planning, which is particularly relevant in areas with high pest density.
• Vegetation flexibility: A maturity period of 120–140 days allows farmers to leverage soil potential across various agro-climatic zones of Ukraine, ensuring consistent biomass accumulation even under fluctuating weather conditions.

Practical application on the farm

«Public» is a choice for those prioritizing grain production. Its intensive development type requires adherence to optimal sowing windows. The hybrid responds well to mineral fertilization and shows high profitability when maintaining plant densities recommended by the originator. Its key advantage is its «tech-readiness»: predictable behavior during the ripening period makes it a reliable tool for planning the harvest campaign, avoiding losses from lodging or stalk diseases.
