Pustovaryvskyi 280 SV is a tri-line hybrid corn of medium-early maturity (FAO 280), developed by the agrofirm «Kолос» in cooperation with the company «Rasava». It belongs to the intensive type with a combined usage direction, including grain, green mass, and silage production. In Ukraine's Forest-Steppe zone, this hybrid matures in 143–152 days, demonstrating high productivity and stability under various ecological conditions. During state trials, the average grain yield ranged from 8.65 to 8.87 t/ha, reaching 9.5–10.5 t/ha in some farms under standard grain moisture.
Pustovaryvskyi 280 SV plants grow to a height of 270–320 cm and have 16–18 leaves on the main stem. The plant is moderately bushy, combined with high resistance to lodging and diseases, ensuring reliable cultivation. The ears have a weak conical shape, are thick, 20–22 cm long, with 18–20 rows of kernels and 40–49 kernels per row. The 1000-kernel weight varies between 280–310 g, and the grain yield from the ear is 79–80%. The hybrid is also characterized by high cold and drought resistance.
Pustovaryvskyi 280 SV seed production is conducted on sterile basis (C-type) according to a full fertility restoration scheme, with parental forms sown simultaneously on hybridization plots. This hybrid has been registered in Ukraine's State Register of Plant Varieties since 2008 for the Forest-Steppe and Polissia zones. «Kолос» agrofirm’s corn cultivation is based on modern technologies including soil preparation, seed treatment, pest control, and nutrient optimization, ensuring high yields and market competitiveness.
