Hybrid corn RAM 8149 (FAO 280) is a medium-early simple grain variety developed for cultivation in steppe, forest-steppe zones, and the Polissia region. Plants reach a height of 250-270 cm, have 15-17 leaves, and form a cylindrical ear 18-22 cm long, positioned at a height of 90-110 cm. The kernels are yellow-orange, intermediate type, with 12-14 rows and 32-34 kernels per row. The 1000-kernel weight is 270-290 grams, and the vegetation period lasts 105-115 days, ensuring rapid maturity and reduced drying costs.

The hybrid exhibits high resistance to most corn pathogens, including common smut, as well as to key pests, lodging, and stalk breakage. The well-developed root system provides good drought tolerance and adaptation to low temperatures, making RAM 8149 adaptable to cultivation conditions and stress factors. Due to these qualities, the hybrid is successfully grown using intensive technology with optimal fertilizer application, as well as energy-saving farming methods.

The recommended planting density varies depending on the natural zone: 45-55 thousand plants per hectare in steppe regions, 55-65 thousand in forest-steppe, and 65-70 thousand in Polissia. Grain yield reaches 12.5-13 tons per hectare with a kernel extraction rate of 82%, starch content of 71.5%, and protein content of 9.1%.
